TRAMWAY CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE

Due to a component failure in our substation we will be unable to reopen our museum and tramway on March 30 as expected.

Our volunteers are working hard to rectify the fault but we can not provide a time scale as yet – Updates will be posted here, aswell as on the Heaton Park Tramway Facebook page.

We operate a vintage tramway through Manchester’s Heaton Park, the biggest Park in Greater Manchester and the largest municipal park in all of Europe.

The most frequently asked questions are answered below – for anything else, please click on the menu above!

When do you operate?

***Tramway and museum remain closed until further notice***

What time do you operate?

The first tram will depart our Lakeside terminus at approximately 12:00pm, with the service finishing at approximately 4:30pm, Trams will operate every 20 minutes. Our museum and shop will also be open during this time period.

How much is a tram ride?

We offer two types of ticket – a return trip (one whole trip of the tramway, dropping you back off where you boarded), and a multi-ride ticket, enabling you to stay all day long.

  • Adult Return Trip: £2
  • Adult Multi-Ride Ticket: £5
  • Child (5-15) Return Trip: £1
  • Child (5-15) Multiride: £2.50
  • Family (2 Adults, 2 Children 5-15) Return Trip: £5
  • Family (2 Adults, 2 Children 5-15) Multiride: £12

All children under the age of 5 travel for FREE!

Can I bring a dog on the trams?

Well behaved dogs are more than welcome on our tramcars, and do not pay an additional fare.

Can I bring a buggy/pram or bike on the trams?

Buggies and prams can only be carried if folded down – there simply isn’t space for them to be carried unfolded on our vintage tramcars.

Children’s bikes and scooters can be carried subject to space on the tramcar – the trams are too small to carry full size adult bikes.

Where is best to park for the trams?

Please use the Sheepfoot Lane car park, postcode M25 2SW.

Can I drive the trams?

Yes – provided you are over 21 and have a car driving licence, please see our Tram Driving Experience page for more information!

I have limited mobility – can I get on the tramcars?

Unfortunately, our tramcars were not constructed with the carriage of wheelchairs in mind, so, at present, it is not possible to board in a wheelchair.

We do have a step available on the tramcars to make them easier to board from ground level.

Our museum building is fully accessible using the ramps provided.
